Our patients...

Baby Screech Owl

Our hospital is very busy, as usual, for the summer! Among our 46 patients this week are...

  • A young red-tailed hawk, found on the ground at a golf course, weak and unable to stand. Radiographs revealed a bone infection, which is he being treated for.
  • A painted turtle whose shell as cracked when he was hit by a car. The broken piece has been stabilized with plumber's putty and wire, and we expect it to heal very well.
  • Four orphaned baby screech owls.
  • An injured piping plover - an endangered species in New York!

Walk for Wildlife

Sunday, September 13th 2009, 11:00 - 3:00

Mark your calendar now for the sixth annual Walk for Wildlife! This fundraising event will help us raise $10,000 to continue to help the hundreds of animals brought to our hospital each year!

Participants will have chance to meet our animals - hawks, owls, falcons, snakes, turtles, opossums, bats, and more - up close and learn about Long Island's native wild animals, ecosystems, migration, and animals in your own backyard. There will also be games, craft activities, face painting, and great prizes at our auction.

Visit our Walk page for more information on sponsoring the walk as an individual or family, or as a business.
